“The Tomb is Empty” — A Good Friday Drama

This Good Friday, experience the story of the cross through the eyes of those who witnessed it firsthand.

The Tomb is Empty is a powerful dramatic presentation set in the final days of Jesus of Nazareth — from the bustling streets of Jerusalem to the silence of an empty tomb. Told through the perspectives of Roman soldiers, a scheming religious council, a governor’s troubled wife, and eyewitnesses to miracles, this drama brings the Easter story to life in a way that will move your heart and stir your faith.

The story follows Claudia Procula, the wife of Pontius Pilate, who secretly believes in Jesus and is haunted by a prophetic dream she cannot shake. Centurion Longinus begins as a dutiful soldier carrying out orders — and ends as a witness to the greatest miracle in history. And at the heart of it all stands Jesus of Nazareth, whose calm, unwavering presence in the face of betrayal, false accusation, and death speaks louder than any army.

From the temple courts where Jesus heals a blind man and teaches with breathtaking authority, to the chilling late-night trial before the High Priest Caiaphas, to Pilate’s courtyard where a crowd’s fury decides the fate of an innocent man — The Tomb is Empty traces every step of that final journey. The drama does not shy away from the darkness of those hours. It puts you in the room with Caiaphas as he tears his robe. It places you in the crowd as they cry “Crucify Him!” It takes you to the foot of the cross, and then — in the early morning stillness of a garden — to a stone that has been rolled away.

Featuring a gifted live cast, powerful choral music, and scenes that bring Scripture vividly to life, this production is the result of weeks of heartfelt preparation by our church family. Whether you are a lifelong believer or someone simply curious about the story behind Easter, this is a Good Friday experience your whole family will remember.
